Zorbey Turkalp

Zorbey Turkalp is an Edinburgh-based bass who sings extensively in the music scene in and around Edinburgh and Scotland on an amateur and semi-professional basis. His repertoire includes opera, Gilbert and Sullivan, musical theatre and choral engagements. Past roles have included Father in Hansel and Gretel, Marco in Gianni Schicchi, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte and with Edinburgh G&S the title role in The Mikado, Earl of Mountararat in Iolanthe and Sergeant of Police in The Pirates of Penzance.

Choral and oratorio work has included bass soloist in the St John’s Passion with Stonehaven Chorus, Jesus in Arvo Pärt’s Passio at the Reid Consort Hall, and soloist in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle with Reid Consort Group among many other parts. When not rehearsing Zorbey is very busy working in his day job as a medical registrar doctor and is hoping to continue his training in neurology.
