Buxton Opera House

The Festival day started with talks at 10:30am, a recital at 1:00pm, performances at the Pavilion and/or St John’s at 2:30pm, a pre-show talk at St John’s at 6:30pm, a performance in the Opera House at 7:30pm, preceded by a fanfare at 7:15pm, and ended in the Pavilion, where the Festival Club offered food and drink and a post-show cabaret until midnight.

One result of the late nights was that we saw a lot of a fascinating Georgian town suitably illuminated!

Our Buxton experience wasn’t all work. We drank a lot of coffee (and stronger refreshment!), ate a lot of food, enjoyed the market and the walks through an interesting town with some magnificent gardens … and went up a lot of hills. Val McManus was busy with her camera, and here are some of the results.
