Waiting to go on at Buxton

As we explain elsewhere, the Festival programme is very tightly packed, and Wednesday afternoon saw us in the St John’s car park waiting impatiently for the HMS Pinafore sing-along to finish!

While we were there, we were pleased to welcome some of our fan club, unexpectedly including previous members Roger and Jo Clifton, last seen at the Carnegie Hall in our 2005 Ruddigore, and now living near Buxton.

Our Chair, Sinead Beveridge, made good use of the wait to make a unique presentation on behalf of the Society to everyone taking part. This took the form of a vinyl LP, customised with TJO front and back labels, in a plain black sleeve. Every record was different, and you had to play it (having first reinstated the central hole!) to find out the result of the random choice of music. Ian Anderson reported that his souvenir record was by Otis Redding – one of his favourite artists!

As you’d expect, Val McManus wandered round with camera in hand, so there are some images to share. As in “Our Buxton day”, these appear in random order, though you can navigate through the filmstrip below the display.
