Elaine Young
Elaine Young is delighted to be joining DGASS on stage in Iolanthe. However, this is not Elaine’s first outing with the company, having 25+ years ago played Ruth in a ‘come and sing’ version of The Pirates of Penzance and last year she joined the chorus of policemen as the Sergeant’s sidekick!
Elaine is a long-term member of Kirkcaldy G&S, where she has played the majority of the alto/mezzo roles in the G&S canon, many several times. Elaine has also performed many principal roles with Fife Opera, favourites being Cornelia in Giulio Cesare and Madame de la Haltière in Cendrillon and in June she will appear as Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor with Tayside Opera. For more than 30 years she has performed throughout Scotland and beyond with the concert group Ensemble, appearing annually at the Edinburgh Fringe. Happily retired, she enjoys the company of her two cats, William and Arthur! But what else would such a Gilbert & Sullivan devotee call her favourite furry companions?
