Lyn Bowring

Lyn’s musical activities started at Dunfermline High School taking part in both G&S and non-G&S shows, singing in the school’s Madrigal Choir and also the Fife County Choir.

On leaving school, Lyn joined DG&SS – her first show being The Gondoliers as Giulia in 1980.  A memorable show, the last night being cancelled!! Lyn made her way through the years singing the the chorus and in various minor principal roles until the present day.  On occasions she has been joined by her daughter, Alayne, who had her first minor principal role in Ruddigore in 2005.  Proud moment for Mum!

Lyn played the part of Peep-Bo in the society’s last production of The Mikado, and was delighted to be asked to sing it again in the 2006 summer concert.

Outwith G&S Lyn sings with the Edinburgh-based Kevock Choir performing in and around Edinburgh, and further afield in Europe, Canada and the USA.  She has also taken part in many Edinburgh Military Tattoo performances – learning “the drill” from various Sergeant Majors! Not a box step in sight!

Lyn lives locally with her family – husband Steve and daughter Alayne.  She works as a Nursery Teacher where performing in front of 40 three and four year olds is good practice for stage work!  Just a big kid at heart.
